MAKI YAMAMOTO is a textile-design firm that draws on couture sewing techniques to create and produce fabric works of art for private homes and commercial clients. The company’s pieces are contemporary and timeless, whimsical but sophisticated. Its product range includes window treatments such as drapery, wall hangings, space dividers, bedspreads, pillows, and lampshades, as well as stand-alone pieces of art.

Owner and creative director Maki Yamamoto is a fashion designer by training. She founded the company in 2003, shortly after relocating to New York from her native Tokyo. Since then, she has collaborated with interior designers such as Amy Lau, Pierce Allen, Peter Marino Architect, Gettys Hospitality Design, Therese Virserius Design – as well as with numerous commercial clients and private collectors – to design customized panels, drapery, and pillows. Her work has been featured in magazines including Interior Design, Hospitality, Contract and New York Space, and in Lau’s book Expressive Modern. Maki has also created pieces for gala events such as the Cooper Hewitt Museum’s National Design Awards.

Interior designers, event planners, and private clients can work with Maki to create bespoke commissions for homes, commercial projects, and occasions. Alternatively, they can order from one of Maki’s three complementary collections:
